Putting the you in EU�

EU legislation does a number of things. At its heart is the defence of equal rights for everyone no matter of race, colour, sexual preference, disability and that kind of thing.

Under the new legislation employers may not treat people differently based on what they look like, which sex they are attracted too, their age or whether they are disabled. 

Not only will this help ensure bosses are selecting people for all the right reasons but will also help stamp out discrimination in job training, education, access to useful stuff like healthcare and services. 

Should things go a little wrong, and you feel mistreated, the new laws give you a way to make a complaint and help ensure people who discriminate get penalised properly. 

Each Member State will also be setting up an organisation which will be able to help you more directly if you've faced discrimination.
